This Privacy Policy explains what data Wor-T-ris collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Wor-T-ris is a word game published by MC Stud.io.
DATA WE COLLECT
When you sign in with a provider (Google, Apple or email), we receive your display name, email address and a unique account identifier (uid). We do not receive your password. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email" option, we never receive your real email address, and the relay address is never used to derive your player name. If you play as a guest, an anonymous account identifier is created; it is used only to tie your scores and matches to this device.
DATA STORED ONLINE
The following is kept in our Firebase database:
- Profile — your player name, chosen avatar, and play statistics: turn-based matches won/played plus the counters that feed the badge system (words found, best solo score, login streak, friend count and similar). Statistics are part of your profile, and your badge count may be visible to your match opponents. Your friends list, pending friend requests and the players you have blocked are also kept under your profile. When you become friends, a copy of your name and avatar is written into your friend's list too (if you later rename, older copies may not update).
- Scores — your best solo score per language, together with your player name. The leaderboard is public: your name and score are visible to other players.
- Matches — the board state, moves and found words, scores, and both players' name and avatar snapshots for turn-based matches. Match records are visible to your opponent too.
- Chat messages — your in-match chat messages are stored under the match record and are visible only to the two players of that match. Messages cannot be edited or deleted after sending, and they are kept for as long as the match record exists. Because finished match records remain as part of your opponent's game history, their messages remain with them. Chat is available to all players, including guest accounts.
- Reports — when you report a player or a message, we record: the reporting and reported account identifiers, the chosen reason, and (where applicable) the related match and message id together with the text of the reported message. Report records are never visible to other players and are reviewed only by the developer.
- Presence — a last-seen timestamp used for the approximate "players online" counter on the home screen. It contains no location or other information.
HOW WE USE IT
- Authentication — to sign you in and keep you signed in.
- Leaderboard — to publish your best scores together with your player name (visible to other players).
- Matchmaking — to pair you with an opponent for turn-based matches and store the match state.
- Chat — to deliver your in-match messages to your opponent.
- Moderation — to review reports and enforce the rules.
- Online indicator — to show roughly how many players are online right now.
- Local preferences — to keep settings such as language, sound, vibration and chat visibility on this device.
BLOCKING
When you block a player, their messages are hidden from you and random matchmaking will not route you into matches they opened. An honest limitation: your block cannot technically prevent the player you blocked from joining YOUR open match — if that happens, you can resign and report. The chat switch in Settings hides the chat interface entirely on this device (a local preference, not a server-side block).
THIRD PARTIES
We use Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore): sign-in, the leaderboard and turn-based match data are stored on Firebase. Your use of those features is also subject to Google's privacy terms: policies.google.com/privacy. We do not use advertising networks, and we never sell or rent your personal data.
LOCAL STORAGE ON YOUR DEVICE
The following keys are stored in your browser's localStorage and stay on your device:
- wortris_lang (game and interface language)
- wortris_sound / wortris_haptics (sound and vibration preferences)
- wortris_training (completed training lessons)
- wortris_savedGame_tr / wortris_savedGame_en (your saved solo games, one per language)
- wortris_avatar (your chosen avatar)
- playerName (your player name)
- authChoice (your guest/account choice)
- pendingScores (scores queued while offline)
- wortris_chat (whether the chat interface is shown on this device)
- wortris_wrMirror (internal marker that your statistics were synced to your online profile)
- wortris_stats / wortris_badges (a local copy of your badge counters and the list of badges earned)
- wortris_season (home-screen backdrop theme)
- wortris_mwSeen (internal marker tracking which opponent moves you were notified about)
- wortris_frSeen (internal marker tracking which friend requests you have seen)
YOUR RIGHTS
You can permanently delete your account and associated data at any time in-app via Profile → Delete Account. Deletion removes your profile, scores and presence record; your open match searches are deleted and your active matches are resolved in your opponent's favour. Finished match records remain — they are part of your opponent's game history — together with a snapshot of the player name you used at the time and the match's chat messages. Residual friendship records (for example the copy of your name in a friend's list) may not disappear at the moment of deletion; such remaining data is removed within 30 days at the latest (see Data Retention). You can also request deletion by contacting cakirmehm@gmail.com. You can remove local data yourself by clearing this app's data / localStorage in your browser or device settings.
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Wor-T-ris is suitable for a general audience. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
DATA RETENTION
Account data is kept while your account is active. On account deletion, profile, score and presence data are removed immediately and any remaining associated data within 30 days (except finished match records — see above). Local data is removed as soon as you clear it on your device.
